Construction Begins on the Church at Grande Riviere du Nord
Church members have been collecting and pledging money to begin the construction of this new church building. This church has been meeting in an old warehouse for quite some time. The location of the new church is ideal; it is located right in the busiest part of town. The old building on the property had to be torn down and now, using materials they have purchased themselves, the members of this church, along with members of the Berard church are working to make this church a reality. In the fall of 2003, a group of eager believers in the city
of Grande Riviere du Nord began a Bible study hoping that their group would
eventually organize itself into an established church.Pastor Henoc Lucien traveled weekly to meet
with them for Bible study and prayer.Even the political chaos surrounding President Aristide's departure in
early 2004 didn't dampen the enthusiasm of this group.In August of 2004, an evangelistic crusade
was launched in the town square.For
eight days, thousands of people crowded the town square to hear live praise and
worship music and the preaching of the Word.Among the 55 conversions that week, two were witch doctors.On Sunday, August 22, after the 8-day
crusade, Eglise Evangelique de la Grace held its first Sunday morning
service.162 people were in attendance
that day.Pastor Henoc preached from
Acts chapter 2.Many more are attending
the midweek Bible studies and praise and worship services.Often, services at this new church are
standing room only.Please remember to
pray for this new church plant and the new converts.Pray for the leadership as they begin the process of organizing
themselves for ministry in the city of Grande Riviere du Nord.
