Accident Update from Pastor Henoc An email received from Pastor Henoc this morning. May 5, 2009
"I spent most of yesterday assessing the state of the health of the students to
see what damages have been done. 75% of the students came to school. I called
everyone who did not come to find out what was wrong. Some complain of
headache, lower back aches,etc... The most critical ones are: one girl who
broke a bone near the shoulder blade. The doctor put on a cast that is around all
her upper body. It is very uncomfortable. A couple girls have head injuries with speech problems. Piyou, the
driver, remains in the most critical condition. Another surgery was performed
yesterday to remove infected skin and flesh. The doctor told me that he will be
able to save the leg but he has to watch for infection. That is what worries him
the most. I am working to keep the spirits of students and parents up
and encouraging them although I find myself sometimes discouraged."
As
you can tell by Henoc's email, this has been a very discouraging time.
We need your prayers for the injured, especially the driver. Please
keep Henoc and Guerline in your prayers as they deal with this accident.
In
Haiti, when an accident of this type occurs, the parties responsible
cover the expenses. Insurance as we know it does not exist there.
VOHM has been paying for medical care, xrays, medicines and providing
transportation to and from the doctor and hospital for those who were
injured. As you can imagine, this comes at a difficult time in our
budget. With the severe shortfall in student scholarships needed to
make the school payroll, this added expense is going to take a
God-sized miracle to cover. The loss of our ministry vehicle is also
major problem. Please pray with us for God's provision.
If
you feel God asking you to help with this need, you can send a gift to
us at: VOHM, Box 681, Eagle River, WI 54521. Please designate
Disaster Relief on your check. You can also donate online at our
website using PayPal here. Click on the Donate button at the top of the page and then use the Disaster Relief button to make your donation. Your donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your prayers and support.
