Vision of Hope Ministries, Inc. (VOHM) is the mission support organization in the United States for Evangelical Free Church planting in northern Haiti. Our purpose is to provide administrative, spiritual and financial support for our field missionaries, Henoc and Guerline Lucien and local Haitian Christians working alongside them in the city of Cap Haitien, Haiti and surrounding areas. VOHM currently supports three Evangelical Free Churches which are located in Cap Haitien, Berard and Grande Riviere du Nord. College Susan Schuenke, a K-13 Christian day school located in Cap Haitien, is also supported by VOHM.

Haiti, in the West Indies, shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. About the size of Maryland, Haiti is home to approximately 7.3 million people. Following the exploration of Columbus in 1492, Haiti fell victim to Spanish rule and subsequently, rule of the French.  Remarkably, Haiti became the world’s first black independent nation in 1804 as a result of the insurrection of the nation’s slave population.  The political instability that followed combined with natural disasters that are endemic to this region have left Haiti the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.  Life expectancy is 50 years and almost half the population is illiterate.  Food insecurity and sub-standard living conditions are a daily struggle for the inhabitants of this nation.

Vision of Hope Ministries is focused on bringing hope and help through a holistic ministry.  We share the hope of faith in Jesus Christ by working with local Haitians to provide education, disaster relief, micro-enterprise projects and church planting.  Over 90% of the funds provided by our supporters go directly to aid in these projects.  The dramatic and lasting impact this work makes in the lives of the people of northern Haiti is a testimony to the love of God for his children.  We are excited to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of the people of Haiti!

“ This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” I John 3:16-18
